rock

rock - Anyta Sunday 5 Emotionally Gutted and I never want to stop feeling this way stars

Oh

My

God

This book is going onto my all time favourites, re-read, make me ugly cry shelf.

I have been waiting ALL of 2014 to have a book make me feel this way. I love Angst. And I love books that make me feel like crawling up into them and curling into a ball, hiccuping cause I can’t keep the level of emotion out of my tears. The outer body experience. I haven’t felt this way since I read [b:Split|10392104|Split|Mel Bossa|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328743846s/10392104.jpg|15295887] by Mel Bossa.

Anyta Sunday wrote this story so beautifully. I felt EVERYTHING. Everything guys. It reached into the very marrow of my bones.

description Why am I so emotional? description

” He balls up his fist and presses it into my open palm. ‘I’ll be your rock. Do you think you can handle that today?’
I squeeze his warm fist. His pulse– or is it mine?– beats under my finger.”

description No, it’s not a good look, gain some self-control description

“I smile and trace my name over its surface. Then his.

The tide sweeps in around us as if to soak up my story and run away. I envision it out there being tossed up onto the rocky surface. Has our story ended? If so, will it sink to the bottom of ocean, near the aquamarines that mermaids treasure? Or will the heavy breezes whip it through the sky, carrying it over every surface because it’s not finished yet?

description And deep down I know this never works description

“I glance at the hook he’s tying around his neck. It had to be a hook because I want to reel him in. Even if I can’t or won’t, it’ll be nice to see hope hanging from his chest.”

description But you can lay with me so it doesn’t hurt description

“Our story never sank,” I murmur. “The breeze carried it for us.”

There are so many more beautiful quotes, words, I can add here but I won’t. I’m gonna take these feelings that I have and wrap them all around me, cocoon myself within them, I never want this feeling to leave.

The lack of sleep, the dizziness, the headache. It is all so fucking worth it. Because this book… this book is probably the best I’ve read so far in 2014.

The best,

It was unputdownable! I left my BR buddy in the dust. She didn’t even get to start it and I was finished.

My eyes couldn’t stop leaking and wouldn’t leave the page. I couldn’t swish the page over fast enough. I had bated breath, racing heart beats, shaking hands. It hurt so fucking good. So good. From beginning to end, it started as a fisher and worked itself up to breaking my heart into a million little pieces only to glue itself back together again… but the fishers are still there as they will never ever fully heal.

It was motherfucking epic. The highs and the lows. This is how an addict must feel. The rush. The high. The tumble, The black hole of despair.

This book was EVERYTHING.

The Understatement of the Year

The Understatement of the Year - Sarina Bowen 3-3.5 Hearts

I saw the reviews for this book and I was SOOO looking forward to having my ass kicked with some good ole angst. 2014 has been a quest. A quest to find those books that ROCK the core of me...

Unfortunately my quest is kicking my ass. Literally getting my ass kicked by literacy...

description

I swear I don't know many readers that love to fall apart at the hands of a book. I need a really good cry dammit! and sometimes I feel ROBBED of my tears.

And yes tis true that most would find the contents of this book Angsty.... I didn't.

I am two fold with this book. I enjoyed it... I mean from the moment I started I didn't put it down.

1st I'm Canadian and a hockey fan. Hockey was BORN in Canada.
2nd I didn't need a glossary for all those hockey terms. (pats back)
3rd I loved LOVED Rikker.
4th The author did not make this a contemporary where I felt as if I was reading a Harlequin romance.
5th The story flowed so smoothly.

My tug of war was with one of the main characters. And while I wanna feel sorry for him, I also wanted to freaking grab his hair and kick him in his teeth. Graham and I.... well it was a bit of a....

description

And alas I didn't really feel that deep connection that I wanted btwn Graham and Rikker.

Most days I'm pretty sure it is just me.

Some days I wonder why I search on a daily, high and low for something that's gonna make me curl up into a ball and cry like a baby and just want to be held....

But until then my search continues...

Being True

Being True - Jacob Z. Flores Awe

I heart this book.

It was a sweet sweet YA book with some dark moments. You're typical douchebag homophobes, great parents and some sweet love.

I also Heart Heart the cover of this book. It's so sweet.

The Ghost and the Darkness Volume 1

The Ghost and the Darkness Volume 1 - Quil Carter This book series deserves 10 stars
Awards
Accolades
Millions of reader reviews

Quil Carter builds a world that for some crazy reason you want to be a part of!
You want to walk within the greywastes.
You want to be with the Reaper (apparently I have the wrong parts for him tho...)

If you asked me in the beginning of 2014 if I would fall in love with a series where people EAT people I would have laughed in your face.

The jokes on me tho... cause this series is hands down one of the best series out there.

I have grown to love and tolerate Jade and Elish way more through this volume.

My Killian and My Reaver will always own my heart. And my Reno.

Nero needs to die a thousand deaths. A THOUSAND QUIL. Kill him PLEASE

Perish... I will reserve my judgement for you... check back with me in 9 days k.

The world building is off the charts.

But

There is some tough subject matter. So reader beware.

I can't wait for another 9 days to continue this journey!!!!

9 days... I'm shouting 9 days!!

Flight of Magpies

Flight of Magpies - K.J. Charles description

4,5 It’s the end of it all stars

Damn! I can’t believe this series is over. Really. Over.

Dear KJ Charles,

Do you think you can provide us with a 3.5? Just a small itty bitty tinny tiny few lines of some more Lord Crane and some more Stephen??? Just a little story of where they are? And some hot sex on a platter to boot?? Its not to much to ask for I don’t really think…. all us little people who will now have a tiny little fracture, some may be bigger than others, in their hearts because…. because it matters to us… we would probably fall graciously at your feet. Really.

Sincerely,

Would forever be grateful, Mare

I loved this series. So very much. Just like my review of book 2 I will repeat: I have never loved two MCs so equally as I do Lord Lucien Crane and Stephen Day. I can’t split them up, I can’t separate why I liked one more than the other because you just can’t.

And then there is Merrick. My Lord. Everyone deserves a Merrick in their life. I’m so glad I have my Merrick. You know those friends that never leave your side, that have your back no matter what. That can go blow for blow with you and it won’t change a thing! Yes everyone deserves a friend like that!

We meet Jonah. I for one can’t wait to sink my teeth into Jackdaw which is currently waiting to be devoured on my Ereader. I’ll let you in on something. They probably won’t ever replace S&C in my heart. BUT. You never know, stranger things have happened and my mama always told me to never say never.

There is murder and mayhem and laughter and no tears. There is trickery and fights and arguments and the strings of my heart humming. Crane’s declaration. Man. Sex against the wall. Hot. The argument. Worthy.

The way KJ Charles writes, makes reading so effortless. You just fall into it. And… you don’t stop until the end. And it almost feels like all it took from start to finish was just a blink. Its fantasy and magic and fiction and Joy.

“Crane put his hand on Stephen’s tattooed shoulder, pulled him over for a kiss, and felt Stephen’s hands move on him, assertive, cofident, loved.

Two for Joy, That would do very well indeed.”

Off Campus

Off Campus - Amy Jo Cousins description

1st off Thank You Samhain Publishing via Netgalley for a copy of the e-book.

Secondly that cover… O.M.G… that cover is HELLA… HELLA HOTT. I wanna hug it and squeeze it and sleep with it. That’s how much I love the cover. Because the model… I don’t know who is he but he reminds me of someone who I fell in love with this summer, Zach from BB16. (Big Brother 16).

description

So this story was my Zach story where he wasn’t just bi-curious but totally ended up with his guy. Gah. This cover. Gets 5+ Send Mare into a lust induced coma stars.

The overall story I enjoyed.

However at some moments I really really really wanted to punch Tom in the face.

I facilitated between punching him out and hugging him and then punching him again.

DUDE. Get over it. Was pretty much my mantra.

Did I love Reese?? YES. SO MUCH.

My Reese….GAH LOVE

description

(anyone else see the resemblance or just me????)

It got to the point where I kinda wished that the story was in Reese’s POV. I really wish I knew his story more in depth.

This was my 1st Amy Jo Cousins book, but Goodreads advised me that she has many a books that I will totally get to.

I liked her wording, the way she spun the story, and of course Reese.

It is the 1st story that I haven’t DNF’d in weeks so, I thank you Ms Cousin from the bottom of my heart for resurrecting me back.

Death Trick

Death Trick - Richard Stevenson I liked it. The sarcasm is totally up my alley

Untitled

Untitled - River Jaymes Review to come
I can say with great honesty that I loved book 1 WAY MORE.
2.5-3 stars

Heroes Are My Weakness

Heroes Are My Weakness - Susan Elizabeth Phillips Def not my fav of SEP.
It took me way longer to get thru this one then any other by her

2.5 stars

Fair Play

Fair Play - Josh Lanyon 4+ stars

GOD. I loved this book. So hard.

This is the 1st Lanyon book that gave more into the relationship than into the mystery...and while I do love Lanyon's mysteries this one just.... blew.me.away

I loved Eliott and Tucker in book 1. Their chemistry was off the charts. Their chemistry is still off the charts.

And I love how after some struggles, their communication opened up and flowed.

It was a prefect blend of sexy, mysterious and heart warming.

There is no Joshin in this review.

Book 3...if there is one... cause there will be one...can't come soon enough IMO.

Tempest

Tempest - Lisa Henry, J.A. Rock Thank you Netgalley via Riptide Publishing for the e-copy of these books!

I have mad author love for both Lisa Henry and J.A Rock. My 1 wish is that someday I get to be in a room when they are plotting their next joint story. Whether they are going for dark, sad and twisted or fun with fisting :) you’re sure to get a dose of greatness. I was honoured to be able to Beta read Another Man’s Treasure for these 2 ladies. A dark and twisted book that left me feeling a little desolate. I was able to pre- review When All The World Sleeps and was so amazed how these 2 thought up some of the shit they did. And my heart hurt. And the ANGST. OMG these 2 do ANGST so well.

And here’s a well known secret. They write fun stuff too! Like make you LOL and LOL!

Mark Cooper VS America

So much fun and hot that book!

So now I get to tell you about Playing the Fool.

Well no I won’t spoil it for anyone because it’s a long time b4 it releases to the public but I will tell you to Treat yourself with book 1 for Christmas. Good tidings and good cheer! A little Mac and a little Henry really will leave you feeling good.

I can’t even imagine how much these 2 ladies must of laughed their asses off writing some of the sentences in these books.

I am totally not Disguspressed ! Like not at all. I am totally and 100% in love with the way these stories flowed.

Henry and Mac take you on such a fun fun ride. Costumes and dresses! Guns and murder!

Candy and donuts and just say no to sugar.

Say no to decaf and nasty ass tea!

Happy birthdays, twisted persona’s, running, someone’s always running.

So here’s my advice. Start this book with a great big mug of coffee (pot! pot of coffee) and a box of doughnuts. Don’t share the doughnuts with anyone. This box should be your’s and your’s alone. Ensure that you have lots of candy or chocolate with you at all times.

If you’re on a diet this book is not for you ;)

I’m totally saddened that this ride has ended for me…. for now

I am so disguspressed with those last 2 words cause I want more more more and soon soon soon and please please please!

But alas while I wait to see if get more Mac and Henry…. I’ll take some Brandon and Alex to keep me company!!!
