This book guys. This book. Was so damn good.

AND FULL LENGTH!

81000 word count= sheer bliss.

Mystery/Suspense is not my go to genre. I find that when I read this little things make me jump. The rustle of leaves, that one lone leaf scraping against the concrete in the wind. Trees swaying. People walking behind me. In general I become this paranoid mess and I second guess most people’s motives. ON EVERYTHING. And yet, its been drawing me in this year. More and more because there is substance and intrigue, story lines that don’t falter, the ahh ha ha moments when you guessed the whodunnit right.

I’m kinda new to the Josh Lanyon fan club. I only started reading ALL of his books this year. And I liked them all. BUT. I felt left. Like when you have an argument and think about all the things you could have said, but didn’t and will never get another chance to. All of his books have left me wanting more and wanting to throw my e-reader across the room. AND. Make me seethe with hate.

Stranger on the Shore left me fulfilled, satisfied, happy. Made me feel not so much of a murderous rage like Jake did, but more of a why? why? why? you douche Pierce .

As with Lanyon, it is heavy on the mystery, subtle on the romance and a slew of supporting characters that make you second guess the motives, the reasons and the why’s of it all. I loved where the story went, I loved how it kept me guessing. I loved that the clues kept me going, kept me turning the page, kept me so entranced that I couldn’t, wouldn’t put the book down.

And as per every Lanyon book the 2 MCs have the similar mannerisms but their individuality makes them… well them in each book.

You can’t help but fall in love with Griff. He’s easy to want to love. AND. You can’t help but to hate a bit, a tad bit, a wee bit, on Pierce. Lanyon is excellent in making you feel so many feelings for the MC. And he excels at writing men that “seem” cold and heartless, mean and OMG asses! Excellent at making us pick apart the MCs until we feel we’ve gotten to the core. But. We haven’t because like a true mystery writer we’re still left with…well… a mystery. And I like that because I will think of these characters long after I have finished reading these books.

I can’t wait for more Lanyon books. And I hope and pray and ask for full length novels. Because 100 odd pages of his magic just isn’t enough.
